The Elite Guardians of Club Penguin (EGCP)—formally known as the Empire of the Elite Guardians of Club Penguin—are a Brazilian army founded on October 19th, 2017, by major army legends Cookky2 and Edu14463 that existed from 2017 to 2020 and again from 2023 onward. The army has been a very impactful army in the private server era. The army is known for its intense rivalry with the Rebel Penguin Federation that dominated the Club Penguin Rewritten army scene for the better part of 2 years and culminated in a victory in World War VII, as well its equally heated rivalry with the Templars army that saw numerous conflicts such as the Templar Exodus.
By January 2018, the army was generally considered by contemporaries as a major army in terms of size and influence. The army's zenith saw sizes ranging from 50 to 60—sizes that are unheard for an army that is not natively English. They would peak in the Christmas Chaos 2018 size wise with an alleged max of 65 without allies[1]. They were also notable for their sizes during a time where most armies struggled to eclipse more than 20. The army has produced three major army legends, tied for second most in the private server era alongside the Army of Club Penguin.
History
Pre-opening (2016)
The concept behind the army that would become the Elite Guardians first came about in October 2016 when Cookky2—then a General of the Nachos—thought of forming a Nachonnian colony that had Portuguese as the primary language rather than English in order to appeal to Brazilian Club Penguin users.[4] Club Penguin had numerous Portuguese servers (such as Zero Grau) and a sizeable playerbase for those servers that was largely untouched due to how English-dominated Club Penguin Armies was (with the rare exceptions of armies such as Metal Warriors, Wild Ninjas, and Penguin Army Force).
Cookky had primarily recruited from these Portuguese servers which was fruitful but due to English being the primary language of the Nachos, they did not have the infrastructure to formally retain a lot of Brazilian troops. The hope was for Nachos to endorse an official colony in order for better support these recruits. Cookky consulted with Edu14463, who had served with Cookky in 2015 Water Ninjas, on the idea. A primitive version of Elite Guardians had been set-up but never formally opened due to objection by Nachos' leadership in fear of it developing into a rebellion due to Nachonnian owners Poseidon112 and Jammi Dodger departing to focus on Thugs after being asked to pick between Nachos or their new army.
The idea was once again posed to Nachonnian leadership on December 27th, 2016 by Cookky (now Field Marshal) and received an endorsement. On January 30th, 2017, Cookky had been promoted to Nachonnian leadership.[5] The Elite Guardians were to be formally established but ultimately was scrapped hours later due to Disney announcing Club Penguin would be closing.[6] The original plan of having EGCP be established as a Nachonnian colony would never be realized and would not see the light for more than half a year.
Early history and foundation (2017)
The army was founded in October 19th, 2017, by Cookky2, a former Nachos leader, and Edu14463, a former Water Ninjas leader and popular Brazilian CP blogger. Despite being Brazilian, the two were determined to grow the army and make success out of it. The army barred a resemblance to EPF agency within Club Penguin, using the main agents clothing, but with a white color, and occasionally brown if white is not an option. The army was split into two branches: the Strikers and the Guardians. They operated on Club Penguin Brasil initially, and fought against the Total Protection of Island army, being successful and forcing them into closing. In October, the "Soldier of the Month" award was introduced, with Dollynhoxdd being the first winner. By November of 2017, they saw an increase in size and recruited their future leaders and legends, Slowfood64 and Victoria484. With the usage of recruiting, the army went from maxing sizes of 8-10 to maxing into the near 20s. They fought against the next army, the Black Hats, and defeated them, forcing them into submission and leaving the army. Around this time, the army became brother allies with the Argentinian army, the Wild Ninjas. By the 19th of December, the army maxed 33.
Christmas Chaos Hunt and Kill (December 2017)
The Christmas Chaos Hunt and Kill was hosted by Penguin Press, a late 2017 organization ran by S/M legend Ulysses Nardo. The Elite Guardians were victorious. The title of "Soldier of the Year" was adopted, with Slowfood64 being it's first winner. In late 2017, EGCP's first colony, the Super Strikers of Club Penguin, were formed by Ratoru, an EGCP moderator.
Golden age (2018)
Early 2018 golden age (January - March 2018)
By January 2018, the army was maxing 35+, which made them the second largest of this time. Cookky2 stepped down from leader in January, resulting in Victoria and Slowfood64 to become leaders. Cookky would return on numerous occasions afterwards throughout 2018 and 2019. Under EGCP moderator Fl1nnsG4m3s, EGCP's second colony, the Delta Penguins of CP were founded, with. The army also took part in the New Viking Alliance, one of the most influential alliances of the modern era, which led to EGCP's massive involvement in the War Against Ehroyals, resulting in a NVA victory.
The army also faced heavy drama with in the Club Penguin Brasil community, resulting in their ban from the CPPS. The army also took part in the CP Army Syndicate project, and grew to be the biggest empire there, owning a majority of the land at the time. During this time, the army reached #1 on the Small Medium Army News organization, ran by Zeke/Fudge. The army also went to war during the War on EGCP Imperialism, and was victorious. The army also took part in the Sound of Soldiers tournament, being the victor. This time also saw the first addition of later EGCP and CPA legend, Cobra to the army.
Mid 2018 golden age (April - June 2018)
The army went to war against the Templars army on April 9th, 2018, 5 days after the Templars were formed. The Elite Guardians reigned successful in the war, launching numerous invasions. By this time, the Elite Guardians began using Club Penguin Online after the closure of Club Penguin Rewritten. Around this time, EGCP second-in-command and later legend, Gutavuh, was fired from the army due to controversy over his administrative actions, which were deemed "dictatorial" by many of the lower ranks. However, he would return later.
Late 2018 golden age and rise to top (July - December 2018)
During this age, the army retained itself as successful maxing from 30-40. The army began hinting at a potential war against the Rebel Penguin Federation, as the community in July have just started World War VII. The RPF fought in a battle against the Elite Guardians on July 14th, 2018, with EGCP reaching sizes into the 50s. On July 28th, 2018, the army went against the RPF in the semi-finals of the 2018 Legends Cup, after beating the Help Force, maxing 60+ during the battle, and holding tactical advantage. Despite the tactical advantage, the Elite Guardians still lost, and caused a war. EGCP advisor at the time, Cobra, stepped up to become a high commanding member within the army, but upheld leadership duties during the war, especially due to the foundation of the Red Dawn Alliance, which was the main alliance used to fight the RPF and it's United Armies of Club Penguin Online alliance, resulting in a RDA victory. Following World War VII, the army continued to reach high sizes more consistently than before, averaging 30s - 50s, and would peak at #2 on the CPOAL Top Ten twice, and would usually place at #3. The army went onto take part in the 2018 Christmas Chaos, and were defeated by Templars initially in what they deemed a rigged battle, resulting in EGCP's successful war against the Templars, known as the Third Great Holy War, which saw the formation of the popular war team of Cookky2, Edu14463, and Cobra (and later Guta). The true finals were eventually held between the Templars, Elite Guardians, and Pirates. However, due to controversy of Pirates cheating, the Elite Guardians would forfeit, followed by the Templars. This would end up leading the Pirates to win the Christmas Chaos, but the Elite Guardians have since recognized themselves as the winners.
Post-golden age (2019)
The Elite Guardians were one of the many armies to partake in the migration from CP Online to CP Rewritten. The Elite Guardians partook in the Templar Exodus against the Templars, in attempt to give Winged Hussars independence, and were victorious. With the return of the CP Army Syndicate project, the Elite Guardians continued to be the largest empire on it's map. As well during this time, the Elite Guardians began pushing to help out the S/M community, which retained themselves as popular. March 2019 saw the reintroduction to CPA legends in the community, with Cookky, Edu, and Cobra all being inducted as major legends under the EGCP army. In April, Victoria was given the title of EGCP legend, followed by Gutavuh in May. In June, the Elite Guardians surpassed the RPF by a small margin, reaching #1 on CPATG's top ten, marking the first true time RPF were brought down to #2 in the community. The army took part in the 2019 Summer Circuit but did not win. They also took part in the War of Smoke and Sour. By late 2019, the army began to decrease in it's size, but still retained itself as popular. They fought their last war against the RPF in late 2019, known as the RPF-EGCP War (2019), with the casus beli of "toxicity" on EGCP's part, however EGCP would make no moves in the war after expressing that they were unprepared. In late 2019, EGCP introduced many more rewards to the army as well, and began forming a near brother alliance with the Recon Federation of Club Penguin.
Original Closure (2020)
On January 27th, 2020, the army was closed due to the leadership's lack of interest and them wanting to preserve the legacy of the army's success. The army's discord was reverted into a hangout, the army's nation was dropped as freeland, and many members went onto become part of the Os Mascarados Army, but the army would not take off. The last people to be made legend were Dollynhoxdd, Pedrox, and Cobra.
Second Generation (2023)
On May 4th, 2023, the Elite Guardians returned to the community under the leadership of Belga, Ramlass, Fitsuki, and Joseph. Maxing a size of 32 at their re-opening event[7], the army registered for official army status in the Club Penguin Army Times and Club Penguin Armies organizations. EGCP would rekindle their old alliance with the Help Force on May 6th[8] as well as forging a new alliance with the Water Vikings army on May 7th.[9] The Elite Guardians' first placement since reopening would be 6th place on CPA's top ten.[10]
EGCP would enter the foyer of the map on May 10th with the map with them scheduling invasions on the BASEDment Demons servers of Down Under and Underground Ruins.[11] The Elite Guardians would follow it up 4 days later with an invasion of Kilimanjaro from the Penguins of Madagascar due to them no-showing a practice battle with EGCP earlier that day.[12][13] EGCP viewed the no-showing as unhonorable, quipping that a "meme army has more honor than you guys [POM]".[14]
The Elite Guardians cruised to 2nd place on CPA's top ten in their second week of being open, narrowly edging out the Rebel Penguin Federation but trailed behind the Water Vikings.[15] EGCP had first official battle since returning on May 18th, 2023, against WV.[16] The Elite Guardians peaked at a size of 22 at the battle compared to WV's max of 19. EGCP would be defeated in overtime[17], with presiding judge Mare saying "WV was still faster when it came to covering the army [sic], quicker getting into formation, and balancing emotes and word switches" for the last room. EGCP finished the 3rd week of May in 4th place.[18]
EGCP scheduled two invasions of the Special Weapons And Tactics' nation for the servers of Kilimanjaro and Famagusta subsequently after the Army of Club Penguin scheduled invasions on SWAT as a part of their War of Unfinished Business.[19][20] Their initial invasions were deemed invalid due to violation of CPA's Discord Rules which stipulates all invasions must be given a 24 hours' notice (at minimum), leading to EGCP electing to refile their invasions.[21] There was confusion over the legality of EGCP's invasions due to ACP's war terms barring the involvement of other parties but CPA permitted the invasions on the basis of "there has been no official war declaration and ACPs [sic] terms only prevent transfers".[22] SWAT ultimately forfeited their land, citing their commitment in the Bloodbath Barrage as the reasoning for not wanting to contest defenses.[23] EGCP finished the last full week of May in 3rd place on the top ten.[24]
